I wish to imagine what Saint John Baptist De La Salle would tell us, at this time in the history of our beloved Hakodate La Salle, when we are getting ready to celebrate the Golden Year of our school.
The culture of this school has been embedded as its natural DNA, the personal experiences of more than 12 thousand young men who have lived here for almost half of a century. You were here as students at a time when you were young and full of passion for life. If the walls of these hallways, classrooms and the dormitory could speak, they could share with us what you dreamed of during those years and we all would be amused with the creativity, audacity and energy you displayed here. Without any doubt you would agree that your time at La Salle were your golden years, especially because you were able to make friends for life.
Now, your juniors following your example also feel invincible, almighty, and dare to challenge themselves. They have the advantage of building upon your experience; you are their distant, yet their believable and faithful leading seniors.
As alumni, you shine as golden stars ahead of your younger brothers; they will follow you and together we will be able to transform this planet into an extraordinary and wonderful world.
